Prof. Vibha Tandon working at Special Centre for Molecular Medicine (SCMM), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She has 27 years of research experience after a Ph.D.; out of those 27 years, she worked as an independent PI for 21 years. She has served as a faculty at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Centre for Biomedical Research (ACBR), the University of Delhi, from 1998 to 2008. She has developed a course structure for M.Sc.-Ph.D. Combined degree program in Biomedical Sciences at ACBR and was instrumental in starting the first batch of Masters in ACBR. She taught courses such as Biochemistry, Instrumentation, Medicinal Chemistry, and Drug Development for ten years. After this, she moved to the Department of Chemistry, the University of Delhi, as an Associate Professor in 2009. She continued there till 2013. She became Professor in the year 2013 and moved to the Special Centre for Molecular Medicine in 2014. She once again played a significant role in starting the first batch of the Integrated M.Sc.-Ph. D. program in Molecular Medicine at SCMM. She played an essential role in designing the curriculum of the master’s program at SCMM, which is a unique curriculum involving courses such as Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Pathology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Proteomics, Nutrition, Pharmacology & Therapeutics, Toxicology, Bioinformatics & Statistics.

Along with 11 other faculties of JNU is awarded a grant by DST under Drug Pharma Research Program to develop Single Cell Spheroids from Head and Neck Cancer Patients and conduct RNA seq of those patient samples to develop a treatment regimen to be utilized by Oncologist. She created the project, and she is collaborating with AIIMS and Medanta on this project.

he was awarded a Royal Society fellowship under INSA exchange twice to visit the School of Pharmacy, University of London, UK, Medical Research Council (MRC), Cambridge in 2004 and 2007. She was awarded Fulbright-Nehru Senior Fellowship in the year 2013 to work in Cancer Laboratory at Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA. She has worked in Radiation Biology Laboratory at ESSEN Medical School, Germany as a DAAD fellow in 2012.

She had served on several administrative responsibilities at Delhi University and JNU. She was a carrier who served as an entrance exam coordinator for Biomedical Research Centre. She has completed her tenure as Chairperson of SCMM, and she has served as Chief Proctor and Internal complaints committee of JNU. She has been Chairperson of the DST PURSE grant of JNU.

She was first Presiding officer of Internal Complaints Committee at JNU from 2017 -2020. She has conducted three national workshop on Gender Sensitization, Sexual Harassment of Working Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redresssal), which was attended by 300 Women and Men from all over country. She has been conducting workshops on Women Empowerment to young teachers and students all over the country.

She was member of WoS from 2013 -16 and then became Chairperson of WoS A Chemical Science committee of DST since 2016 till date. She was the Chairperson of the Research Council of JNU from 2016 to 2019. She has been doing sensitization programs for women in science and training young girl students in the northeast region. She is continuously working for the Women’s cause and conducted several workshops to motivate girls who have left and start the carrier again. She was a part of DST initiative on bringing back the science students to main path.

She has guided 22 Ph.D. students, 70 students for three months, and six months of research projects. She has 72 publications and 05 patents on her credit. She was closely associated with carrier counselling of M.Sc. students at DU for almost ten years.
